Med spa marketing statistics (2026)

Med spa industry statistics on size, patients, treatments, Instagram, DMs, reply speed, no-shows and reviews. Every number links to the page it came from, with the year.

These med spa marketing statistics come from trade groups, medical societies, Meta and published studies. Each number links to the page it came from, with the source name and year. Use them to plan a budget, write a pitch or check your own numbers against the market.

A quick note before you start. Most med spa industry statistics come from surveys. A survey asks a group of clinics or people, so the result is a good guide, not an exact count. We list the year for each one so you can see how fresh it is.

These Meta figures are Meta's own numbers about its own apps. They show scale, not results for any one clinic.

Lead response statistics

This study is old, and it measured phone calls to web form leads, not med spa DMs. We think the lesson carries over to DMs: the first few minutes matter most.

No-show and booking statistics

  • The average no-show rate across 105 studies was about 23% (Health Policy, 2018).
  • No-show rates ranged from 13.2% in Oceania to 43.0% in Africa (Health Policy, 2018).
  • A long wait between booking and the visit was one of the factors most often linked to no-shows (Health Policy, 2018).
  • In the review, 78.6% of patients who got text reminders showed up, compared with 67.8% with no reminder (Cochrane, 2013).
  • Text reminders worked about as well as phone call reminders (Cochrane, 2013).

Online review statistics

  • 59% of US adults said doctor rating sites were somewhat or very important when choosing a doctor (JAMA, 2014).
  • 65% of US adults knew about online doctor ratings (JAMA, 2014).
  • Of people who looked up ratings in the past year, 35% picked a doctor because of good ratings (JAMA, 2014).
  • Of the same group, 37% avoided a doctor because of bad ratings (JAMA, 2014).

From our own research

In August and September 2026, we checked the booking path on 233 med spa websites, mostly in the US. This was not a random sample. Read the full med spa booking software report for the method.

  • 35 of the 174 clinics with a clear answer only offered a request form, with no way to book online.
  • Zenoti and Boulevard were the two most common booking tools among the 139 clinics with online booking.

How to use these numbers

Start with your own numbers. Industry averages tell you what is normal. They do not tell you what your clinic needs. Put your revenue, visits and spend next to the AmSpa numbers and look for the biggest gap.

Set a budget, then test it. About 7% of revenue is a common place to start. Our guide on how much a med spa should spend on marketing shows the math, and the marketing cost calculator runs it for you.

Fix speed before spend. If replies take hours, more ads just mean more cold leads. Our guides to click-to-DM ads and the AI receptionist for med spas show how a fast first reply works.

Plan for no-shows. In one large review of health care visits, close to one in four booked patients did not show up. A card on file and a text reminder both help. See med spa no-shows and card on file.

Quote with care. If you use a number in a deck or post, link to this page or to the original source we list. Keep the year next to the number so readers know how fresh it is.

Frequently asked questions

How many med spas are there in the US?

AmSpa counted 10,488 med spas in the US in 2023, up from 8,899 in 2022. Its count was 5,431 in 2018, so the number nearly doubled in five years.

How much revenue does the average med spa make?

AmSpa's 2024 report puts average yearly revenue at $1,398,833 per med spa. That is an average, so many clinics make much less and a few make much more. The same report found the average patient spends $527 per visit.

Neuromodulator shots, such as Botox, lead every list we found. ASPS counted 9,883,711 of them in 2024, and they made up 50% of minimally invasive treatments in 2025. Fillers came second at 30%. Our guide to Instagram ads for med spas covers how to build an ad around one treatment.

How fast should a med spa reply to a new lead?

As fast as you can, ideally within minutes. In the InsideSales.com and MIT study, the odds of reaching a lead were 100 times higher at 5 minutes than at 30 minutes. That study used phone calls, but the same idea applies to DMs. Our guide to tracking med spa marketing ROI (return on investment) shows how to see what slow replies cost you.
